Got to have it!
26.12.05 was made when I was
pregnant with my boy Neil.
I took the genetic tests of me and his dad,
and created one chromosome of mine
and one from his father.
During the process,
it occurred to me that I was
actually making 2 things:
the genetic baggage of my future son
and an artwork about a crumbling marriage.
When I look at those squares,
I see a couple in bed.
back to back.
Hugging.
getting smaller.
Falling apart.
Until at the end,
like in the last 2 chromosomes,
they are no longer a couple.
In my case,
it was a work that was a prophecy
of what the future held;
by the time my boy was 2 years old
and his sister was 2 months old,
my marriage was over.
