The first - in New York in 16.6.99.
It was my 27th birthday,
and I had a sudden urge to make
something huge.
to leave something behind me
when I'm gone.
I painted this self-portrait on A canvas
of 168 × 168 cm, exactly my hight.
i painted all night long, from dusk till down,
in the living room of my 1st. Ave. apartment.
It was a version that didn’t have the pacifier,
but super lush, femme fatal lips.
seemingly very narcissistic,
but actually quit the opposite.
cut to 2006.
I’m a first time mom, to a 3 month old baby,
in a marriage that are on the verge
of ending daily.
I felt misunderstood. unseen.
As if my voice cannot be heard.
one summer day,
i took this huge seductive painting,
went up to the roof of the building,
and painted a huge pacifier over the
voluptuous lips i once owned.
