I took the old Nokia phone
and scanned it,
only to realize the deep context those
three words had with each other.
In addition to the word he wrote: “sorry,”
the template of the phone had
2 other words:
“Options” and “Exit.”
These resonated deeply
with my situation at the time,
of a marriage that was
on the verge of ending daily.
It was an echo of my
never-ending dilemma-
whether to continue fighting on
keeping our family together and be miserable,
or take the longest breath I ever took
and start a new chapter in my life,
with 2 small babies,
allowing them to grow up
with a happy mother.

when my son was 2 years old
and my girl was 2 months old,
I chose “Exit.”
